Insight
Based in Welland, Ontario, Insight Biblical Counselling Centre provides biblical counselling services for individuals, couples and families seeking counselling. Insight also facilitates training courses in biblical counselling through CCEF.
Gospel care logo
Gospel Care Canada has a Canada-wide team of certified biblical counsellors, who are available for individuals, couples, and families seeking counselling. They are a training center for ABC, providing Level 1 and 2 certification courses throughout the year.
BLC
Based in Québec, the Biblical Living Center endeavours to care for people through biblical counselling and resources from the local church. They offer one-on-one biblical counselling, workshops, and mentoring so people can find healing in Christ.

Jennifer Holmes

Jennifer Holmes is a Biblical Counsellor with her Master of Arts in Counselling degree from Westminster Theological Seminary and is the Director of the Hope Care Centre, coming alongside churches in the mental health and relational care of their people by offering resources, seminars, and one on one care. She is also a speaker, podcaster, and writer on the topic of mental health and faith as well as continuing her education in the PhD program at SEBTS. Follow her on instagram for encouragement and glimpses into her daily life @jensnewsong as she works out what it means to be a Christian living with mental illness.

Jodi Adrian

As a woman and a mother of four daughters, Jodi knows intimately the issues which invade the hearts and minds of women. God has also blessed Jodi and her husband with over 22 years of living with their daughter who has Down syndrome. Jodi enjoys working with children and youth of all abilities to help them work through their hurts and questions. She also has been pushed in her 31 year marriage to seek to understand more of what God intends for us in a relationship. While Jodi acknowledges everyone has their unique story, she recognizes there are commonalities of the human heart. With this understanding, Jodi has sought, with much study and prayer throughout her life, to discern the human heart and all its struggles, so that she might be used by God to walk alongside others in times of pain and confusion.

davidb

David Bootsma

David is a Certified Professional Counsellor (CPC), registered with the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and a referral counsellor for Focus on the Family. He is also an ordained minister & Associate Pastor of Free Grace Vernon Presbyterian Church (PCA), and a certified Life Coach. David has a Masters Of Theological Studies in Counselling and has been in pastoral ministry since 1992. David and his wife have been happily married for over 30 years, and have three grown daughters.

Kristen Kottelenberg

Kristen has completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology (University of Guelph) and a Masters of Arts in Counselling at Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia), including 100+ hours field experience through CCEF. She also has Level 2 Certification through the Christian Healing Trauma Network. Kristen has been married to a pastor of the Canadian Reformed Churches (Smithers, BC) for over 20 years. Together, with their four children, they have served in both Canada and Australia. Kristen has experience in counselling for abusive marriages, childhood sexual trauma, depression, anxiety, parenting, marriages, and mental health diagnoses.

Dave Nannery

Dave is a biblical counsellor working with Gospel Care Collective Canada to provide counselling for Canadians in need. Dave offers counsel for a broad range of struggles, including suffering and trauma, chronic illness, shame, depression, anxiety and fear, stress, pornography, marriage and relational conflict, and preparation for marriage. Dave’s training in biblical counselling came through Faith Bible Seminary and Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation, and he is certified through the Association of Biblical Counselors. Outside of counselling, Dave has also been serving as Associate Pastor at a church in British Columbia since 2015.

Angela Bergmann

Angela is a wife and mother of five mostly adult children. She graduated from university with a psychology degree in 1998 and went on to pursue fitness and personal training before God directed her to Millar College of the Bible. After completing the core certificate in Biblical Studies at Millar, she completed level 2 certification through the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC), level 2 trauma certification through the Christian Trauma Healing Network, and is currently pursuing her Master of Biblical Counseling through Anchor Christian University. Angela considers it a privilege to listen to the life stories of the women God entrusts to her care. Her greatest joy is helping women and children find comfort and strength in God's Word.

Rory Friesen

Rory is a biblical counsellor part of the Gospel care collective. He has spent 25 years ministering in roles such as pastor, working in a men’s addiction centre. In recent years he has received a Recognition of Prior Learning from Providence University College & Theological Seminary, as well as certification as a Biblical Counsellor through the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC) of which he is a member. He was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada and currently minister at Trails Church, Winnipeg as Music and Member Care Lead. He sees it as a privilege to walk alongside those who are in a challenging territory of life.

Mel Neufeld

As a dedicated biblical counsellor, Mel approaches her practice with a holistic perspective, integrating clinical expertise and scripture to support clients through their most challenging times. She has the privilege of guiding individuals, particularly women who have experienced abuse, sexual assault, and various perinatal and postpartum mental health issues. Mel’s work extends to addressing domestic abuse, infertility, anxiety, depression, divorce, grief from abortion, and pornography addiction. Additionally, she offers support to children in elementary school and beyond, assisting them with grief, anxiety, trauma, autism, and attachment difficulties. Mel’s counselling philosophy is rooted in the belief that we are created as embodied souls, with our physical and emotional responses deeply interconnected. Mel is certified through the Association of Biblical Counsellors (ABC), and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Biblical Counselling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She lives in Winnipeg with her husband, and their children.

Sandy Boyachek

Sandy’s goal is helping others navigate hard things with the hope of Christ. Over the years she has been able to come alongside others and see God bring fresh hope and healing into messy and complex situations. Sandy has been married for over 30 years to a pastor and has 3 adult children. Sandy is a member at Bramalea Baptist Church where she also serves in a few different areas. Sandy is passionate about walking alongside others to see the hope that they have in Christ.

Cheryl Burella

Cheryl has a deep-rooted passion for walking alongside individuals who are navigating the complex and painful ripple effects of trauma-particularly those struggling with addiction, their loved ones, anxiety, depression, fear and shame. She is certified and in good standing with ABC, has a postgraduate from Heritage Seminary in Biblical Care and Counselling. She has also completed CCEF Formations certification, is a Certified Trauma Care Provider II, and has over 100 hours of experience. Cheryl’s approach is marked with empathy, biblical wisdom, and a strong commitment to seeing people restored and equipped to walk in freedom and hope.

Richard Byrne

Richard serves as Associate Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. His desire is to see the local church equipped for Christ-exalting discipleship as part of the Great Commission, and the resulting transformation of peoples’ lives through the faithful ministry of God’s Word. He has a passion for the people of God to embrace the authority and sufficiency of Scripture in all of life, and especially enjoys introducing people to how the Bible equips us to understand and address common counselling problems, struggles with life-dominating sins, and mental health disorder diagnoses. He holds an MABC degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary, is certified by ACBC, and is a Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counsellor with The Addiction Connection.

Milton Chan

Milton has a Master of Arts in Counselling from Westminster Theological Seminary. He is an active member of his local church, where he has served in various capacities for the past 10 years and is currently involved in the Men’s ministry. He has a passion for deep, interpersonal relationships and seeing people live out the “one anothers” in Scripture. Milton loves to play and learn new board games, and in his spare time, he will work on his own designs.

Brittany Greydanus

Brittany is a wife and mother of three children. She has graduated from the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC) Level 2 certification, including training in theology and one-to-one care. Through her biblical counselling ministry, Brittany has walked with women through anxiety, grief, anger, childhood sexual abuse, and mental health struggles, helping them to see their sin and suffering through the lens of God's redemptive plan. Brittany has past experience supporting women and their children in desperate situations and holds a Bachelor of Social Work from York University. Brittany spends her free-time volunteering at her children's school, camping with her family, and enjoying relationships with other women in her church and neighbourhood.

Joanne Kok

Joanne has been counselling in a formal setting since 2021. After working in a local Christian school for over 15 years, she retired from her role to be able to have more time with my family and to become more equipped to offer biblical counsel to those who were struggling. Joanne is the administrator of Imparting Grace Services, a biblical counselling and training ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church, where she also offers biblical counselling. Joanne and her husband are members of Faith Presbyterian Church in Tillsonburg. They live nearby with their youngest daughter, Danielle, and love spending time with their other 4 married children and their families, which includes 12 grandchildren!

Michael Krahn

Michael has a deep passion for walking alongside those who feel weary, burdened, or stuck—whether in personal struggles, relationships, or ministry. Michael focuses on providing a safe, grace-filled place for men, couples, and ministry leaders to process challenges and find renewal. Some of his areas of interest include: pastoral and ministry burnout, leadership stress and conflict, spiritual struggles, marriage and family challenges, and personal growth. Michael has been in pastoral ministry for over 15 years as a pastor, coach, and confidante to ministry leaders. He is a certified biblical counsellor through the Association of Biblical Counsellors (ABC). Michael is also the founder of The Shepherd’s Refuge, a ministry dedicated to supporting pastors in their spiritual and emotional well-being.

Heather Lehman

Heather has been married to her husband for almost 29 years and has two adult daughters, aged 28 and 25. She was born into a Catholic family and became a believer in 2005. Shortly after becoming a believer, she started to receive biblical counselling which helped her view Christ as the end of all pursuits, and her greatest treasure. Heather received her Psychology degree in 1993 and is certified as a Biblical Counsellor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). Heather is a member of Redemption Bible Chapel in London, Ontario, and serves as a biblical counsellor on their Soul Care ministry team. Her biblical counselling ministry is called HER Soul care, and is supported by lead pastor, Norm Millar and Biblical Counselling ministry leader, Jason Johnston.

Rebekah McGilvray

Rebekah is a life-long learner who loves to share her heart for God and His transforming power with women of all ages. She is certified through the Association for Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and studied for many years with the Simeon Trust Organization in how to study the Bible. She has taught Bible studies and seminars as well as one-on-one counseling to help women understand that God’s Word is accessible, and relevant to the hurt and struggles in their lives. Her desire is to help women hear the Holy Spirit speak hope and transformation into their lives by digging deep in His all-sufficient and authoritative Word. She is happily married to her husband of 28 years and has twin boys, age 19.

Ian Ridpath

Ian is a certified, ABC Level 2, biblical counsellor specializing in men's issues of life such as: Anger, Anxiety, Christian Identity, Christian Manhood, Fear, Stress and more. Ian believes that the Bible is the sole source of truth in life and counsel. Ian also uses supplemental documents created by himself and other biblical counsellors. Ian is married and his wife is also a biblical counsellor who ministers to women. Together, they also counsel couples.

Beth Rockwell

After almost 30 years of pastoral ministry alongside her husband, Jeff, Beth completed a Masters Degree in Counselling at WTS/CCEF in 2019. In 2021, she began a counselling practice called Hope Biblical Counselling with a particular focus on vulnerable and at-risk women, women experiencing domestic abuse and those struggling with mental health challenges. Beth has volunteered at two Pregnancy Centres, as well as in her church leading women's ministries and helping in other areas. Her hobbies and interests include spending time with our grandchildren, gardening and hooking rugs. Beth seeks to point others to the hope that can be found in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Glen Slingerland

Glen was born and raised in the Niagara region, and eventually God led him to Westminster Theological Seminary in 2007. Glen married Rebecca in 2008 and she joined him in Philadelphia while he completed his MA in Biblical Counselling. Glen began counselling at Elisha House in Welland after returning to Ontario. He worked there as a biblical counsellor and director until he accepted the Executive Director position at Insight Biblical Counselling in 2022. Glen enjoys renovation work, wordsmithing, and sharing good food with great friends. He and Rebecca have been blessed with 4 children: 2 sons and 2 daughters. Glen continues to counsel others, and is passionate about pointing people back to the work of Christ in their lives.

Rick Walton

As a certified Biblical Counsellor with ABC, Rick is passionate about Jesus and His redemption which brings healing and hope to life today and for eternity. In addition, he is an ABC training leader for the Level 1 Foundations course and a supervisor for the Level 2 practicum, as well as being the co-founder of the Gospel Care Collective. Rick’s vocational background combines 14 years in business leadership and over 15 years of pastoral experience. Rick has an MDiv with a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Care and Counselling, a BA in Religion and ministry, and a Diploma in Advanced Biblical and Theological Studies. He considers it a privilege to walk alongside individuals and couples for a season of life, compassionately understanding their life context and discerning counsel from God’s revelation in the Bible. He relies on the transformative power of God’s Spirit to bring about heart change and guide the counsellee to live out God’s wisdom in shaping new life habits. Rick lives in London with his wife and have two children and two grandchildren.

Alysia Whiteside

After years of seeking healing through secular means, God lovingly led Alysia from unbelief to the transformative truth of His Word. Having faced challenges such as childhood abuse, chronic illness, and life-altering medical struggles, Alysia has personally experienced the power of God’s redemptive love and healing. This transformation inspired me to pursue a Master’s degree in Theological Studies from Heritage Seminary, a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Care and Counselling, and certification through the ABC. Alysia’s mission is to walk alongside others, offering biblical hope, helping them see their struggles through the lens of Scripture, and their purpose which is found only in Christ.

Brian Alton

Brian Alton is a local pastor of Church 21 in Montreal, Quebec. He is a Certified Biblical Counsellor, through the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC), Is a board member of the Canadian Biblical Counselling Coalition, a Level 1 Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider, is a recognized Smart Stepfamily Therapy provider, has attended Briercrest Bible College and Seminary, and the Christian Counseling & Education Foundation (CCEF). Sonia Simpson

Sonia believes that the Gospel has the power to reach into the darkest places of your heart—into the confusion, the heartbreak, the numbness—and bring light. She has come to know this not only through her own journey but also by walking alongside others who feel lost, broken, or abandoned. Through church planting, Sonia witnessed how God meets us in our deepest pain, with a love that restores, heals, and transforms.
