But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part.
Ephesians 4:15-16 CSB
Building each other up, by speaking the truth in love, is one of the primary goals of biblical counselling within the body of Christ.
Whether you are new or experienced in the work of building others up, we hope that you will join us on March 19-20, 2024 at Hope Bible Church, Oakville, Ontario. Over two days we will fellowship, learn and grow together for the purpose of Building Up the body of Christ.
There will be four main sessions focused on how to be equipped for the ministry of biblical counselling in the Church.
There will also be workshops throughout both days that will focus on specific counselling topics, such as: Abuse, Addictions, Trauma, Suffering, Loss, Conflict and many more!

Four counselling practices I’ve learned and love, four counselling mistakes I’ve made (so don’t!), and four counselling truths worth implementing to help you counsel effectively, efficiently, and faithfully.
Hear from a couple how Christ met them and showed His goodness in the midst of a marriage crisis.
Tim and his wife, Aileen, will be sharing about their experience of grief in losing a child and the lessons they learned along the way.
Learn to heed the warning signs of burnout and the wise counsel of God’s Word and His saints in finding a pathway of restoration and, as Christopher Ash describes, a “life of sustainable sacrifice.”
This breakout will focus on helping biblical counsellors to expand their model of care to consider the counsellee’s story from different angles. We will explore the implications of body and soul habits, and practical counsel that aligns with God’s truth.
This breakout will provide biblical insight into the realities of those who struggle with anxiety. We will explore the wonderful truth of how our Great God meets with us in the midst of our anxieties. Hebrews 12:1-2.
Drawing on a wealth of experience as a pastor and counsellor, Deepak will give insight into the different motivations that can cause someone to fall into pornography addiction, and how to walk with them.
In this breakout, David will explore the way the Bible naturally cares for us in the way it was written. We will be encouraged and strengthened by the truths of God’s Word.
Through our time together, we will explore a case study, seeking to understand the psychological resources (such as DSM-V), and then examine the relevant biblical themes and theological doctrines in relation to the psychological issue.
In this breakout, you will hear from several people who will offer insight into some of the ways that the ABC Certification process unfolds and informs our biblical care practice. Shauna VanDyke, the Executive Director for ABC, will give an overview (via video-call) of how the organization came together and what the various levels are designed to offer.
Deepak will provide some practical and helpful ways that pastors, leaders and counsellors can assess those who are struggling with suicidal ideation.
Drawing on her years of experience working with family and children in various roles, Wynie will share her knowledge of how to faithfully and biblically engage the hearts of children and teens with the truths of God’s Word.
